About Product Analytics at CircleCI

In this role, you will be part of the CircleCI Data team. We are a group of data analysts, data scientists, and analytics engineers in CircleCI's Research and Development (Product, Engineering, Data, and Design) organization. You will assist product teams in making data-driven decisions, deliver measurable improvements to our products, and launch innovative data products. As each data analyst and data scientist supports one or more research and development teams, you will never run out of new challenges. You will be in charge of all data-related matters for your research and development team!

What you’ll do:

  • Be an excellent analyst: Identify business questions. Develop rational hypotheses around these questions. Establish research plans. Explore data in both clean and raw forms. Apply statistics proficiently. Create clear visualizations. Provide actionable insights. Narrate compelling data stories. Present to technical and executive audiences. Implement action and achieve outcomes.
  • Support a Research and Development team: Work together with product managers, product leaders, designers, and engineers. Determine, investigate, and forecast product metrics. Analyze products, customers, and business outcomes. Discover what drives process success.
  • Use a growth toolkit: Consider product activation, engagement, retention, and growth. Support iterative cycles of building, measuring, and learning. Design, interpret and support product experiments and A/B tests. Educate partners about statistical validity.
  • Improve our analytics practice: Convert repetitive analyses into dashboards. Enhance team processes. Construct data pipelines and tables. Define requirements for better data. Enhance data automation and analytics capabilities. Partner with engineers and analytics engineers.

What we're looking for:

  • 3-5 years of product analytics experience: Ideal candidates typically have between three to five years of experience supporting product, growth, or marketing as a dedicated analyst. Usually, this experience is gained at a high-growth company with a well-defined product funnel. Candidates often have a few additional years of experience supporting other functions as a data analyst or in business intelligence, reporting, or analytics-engineering roles. Familiarity with experimentation methodologies (A/B, MVT) is a plus.
  • Technical education: A bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, etc.). Having a similar Master’s degree or having attended a data science bootcamp is a bonus.
  • Proficiency across analytics tools: Analytical SQL. Scripting in a notebook environment, using Python and Pandas. Intermediate statistics. Basic data science. Ability to quickly familiarize with GitHub, Snowflake, Mode, Segment, Optimizely, Airflow, DBT, and others.
  • Right soft skills: Effective communicator across technical and business audiences and with CircleCI executive leadership. Curious; confident; open to questioning assumptions and being questioned. Can balance visionary thinking and practical execution, not easily discouraged.

You can work remotely anywhere in North America! You also have the opportunity to work from our San Francisco, Denver, Boston, or Toronto offices, once they reopen. CircleCI is a distributed company with team members across more than 50 cities and 13 countries.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, perform essential job functions, and receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
