Job Description
We are seeking a Data Architect to define and envision the organization's utilization of data through its design to cater to business needs. Candidates should be knowledgeable about analyzing data models at their source, modeling data at destinations (warehouses and others), establishing system requirements, and implementing methods for migrating existing data. Practical experience with SQL and PL/SQL is crucial as we use Oracle and other storage systems.
Ideally, you are conversant with techniques of data visualization using appropriate tools (for instance, Tableau), and familiar with AWS basics and Python.
Ultimately, you will create and maintain various data models representing Abcam's business entities, ensure their efficient and secure storage, and allow the data to be beneficial to your stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Constantly strive to improve the current services and capabilities in Data & Analytics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to model data at source systems, aligning with the Enterprise data model.
- Develop and maintain core data models, primarily for products and transactions.
- Be part of the larger Data Engineering team to provide high-quality and timely data to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Data Governance to provide insights and enable assignment of data ownership.
- Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information.
- Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications.
- Support data migrations from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Improve system performance through tests, troubleshooting, and the integration of new elements.
- Optimize new and existing database systems.
- Define security and backup procedures.
- Work with architecture to build a complete understanding of Abcam's enterprise environment.
- Provide advice for data governance.
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, alongside stakeholder management.
- Comprehensive understanding of database structure principles.
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
- Expertise in SQL and Oracle.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (such as Tableau).
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Problem-solving attitude.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field.
