This position reports to the Data Platform Engineering Manager Our DataOps Team aims to deliver value quicker by ensuring predictable delivery and change management of data, data models and related artifacts. DataOps leverages technology to automate the design, deployment and management of data delivery with suitable levels of governance, and uses metadata to improve the usability and value of data in a dynamic environment. Takealot is expanding rapidly, which leads to many unique and interesting challenges. Data is growing fast within the organization, and there is a lot of opportunity to shape the tools, technologies, and culture of data at the company. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Use Terraform to manage Cloud Infrastructure and Chef to manage virtual servers. Build and deploy systems for metrics, monitoring, and logging. Take care of operations for Kafka, Kubernetes, and more. Deploy CI/CD Build Systems to ensure our teams can deploy frequently and safely. Manage and review code. Harden servers and build security into the platform. Develop automation so we can focus on serious problems. Implement features, technology, and processes that shift us towards industry best practices, improving on scalability, efficiency, reliability, and security. Respond to incidents and requests. Skills we need: Passionate about technology, enjoys staying up-to-date with the industry. Always learning. Team player that can also work independently. Excellent communication skills. The qualifications and experience we require: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and a minimum of 3 years of DataOps experience in a software/technology environment is required. Alternatively, equivalent experience of a minimum of 5 years of DataOps expertise in a software/technology environment. An understanding of computer science fundamentals, including Linux and operating systems, networking. Solid grasp of development fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
