SUMMARY OF POSITION
As a Data Architect at Meteor Education, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our organization's data infrastructure and strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, optimizing, and maintaining the systems that enable efficient data collection, storage, integration, and analysis, ultimately driving informed decision-making and innovation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Strategy and Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, data flows, and data architecture blueprints that align with business goals and technology capabilities.
Database Management: Design, implement, and manage scalable and robust database systems, including relational, NoSQL, and data warehousing solutions, ensuring data integrity, security, and high availability.
Data Modeling: Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that translate business requirements into efficient database structures, facilitating data integration and consistent reporting.
ETL/ELT Processes: Design and oversee Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes to efficiently move and transform data from various sources into the data ecosystem, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
Data Integration: Integrate disparate data sources and systems to create a unified view of enterprise data, utilizing techniques such as data virtualization, API integrations, and middleware technologies.
Data Governance and Security: Establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices. Implement robust data security measures to safeguard sensitive information.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database and query performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure optimal data processing speed and efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance, fostering a cooperative environment.
Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging data management and analytics technologies, evaluating their potential to enhance the organization's data capabilities and recommending their adoption when appropriate.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data flows, and processes to ensure transparency, knowledge sharing, and compliance with organizational standards.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
10+ years proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role, with a track record of successfully designing and implementing complex data solutions.
Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and data integration techniques.
Strong expertise in database management systems and data warehousing solutions.
Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and techniques.
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance practices.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Experience with Domo is a plus
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Strong collaboration and leadership abilities.
NOTE: All Meteor new hires are expected to attend an in-person cultural orientation which requires travel to our home office in Gainesville, FL. Employees may also be required to travel and attend annual company meetings and events. All business-related travel expenses will be paid for by Meteor according to our company travel and expense policy.
