As a Data Center Project Engineer, you will be part of a creative and diverse team charged with solving intriguing problems related to the construction of Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry standards for energy efficiency and cost-effective designs. You will collaborate with teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly aid our customers.
As our Data Center Project Engineer, you will aid in the construction of some of the most captivating electrical and mechanical systems in the world. You will interact daily with construction managers and stakeholders on the construction site and will bear direct responsibility for supporting the swift and high-quality delivery of our data center construction. The Data Center Project Engineer is a member of the on-site Construction Management team and will manage communication coordination with our vendors, information workflow, and document management including requests for information (RFI), change orders, reports, and schedule updates.

The responsibilities of the Data Center Project Engineer include:
- Establishing communication and coordination across a data center region's general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams. For example, sending out region-wide changes to construction trailer setup, COVID-19 testing procedures, or where to find documents.
- Developing and maintaining a tracking system for design changes, RFI's, and change orders, and using a dashboard to keep track of this information for regional leadership review. Also tracking the status of priorities and due dates.
- Requesting and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
- Onboarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
- Updating project management software with milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
- Monitoring the delivery of owner furnished material to the site.
- Compiling and storing construction data from vendors.
- Managing checklists, including those for substantial completion checks, safety, and quality.

Basic Qualifications
- A four-year degree in a technical field such as engineering, construction management, or a trade school OR 4+ years of related construction experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience working in the construction industry or an engineering organization.
- Experience with updating and managing construction data.
- Experience with developing workflows and tracking systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using IT tools such as MS Office Suite.
- Experience with project management software tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software.
- Experience in a mission-critical data center.
- Experience with mechanical systems.
- Experience with electrical systems.
- Experience with project management principles and best practices.
