We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Embedded Software Engineer to assist with the research and development of the next generation of sensory and computational technology in robotics. Our team encompasses various disciplines and aims to facilitate a wide array of sensor tech applications in the Amazon Fulfillment network.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in embedded systems and sensors and should possess strong technical expertise to deliver independently, as well great leadership skills to oversee multiple projects with internal teams and external partners. As a senior member of our team, you can have a significant impact on everything from our technology roadmap to the functionality we provide for our customers, the design and architecture of our systems, the algorithms we use, and the culture we foster.
Key job responsibilities include researching emerging sensor technologies, evaluating potential applications for the Amazon fulfillment network, collaborating with hardware, software, test, and operations teams as well as third-party suppliers to develop next-generation 2D & 3D sensors and computers. You will be tasked with system design, defining requirements, writing system specifications, creating test plans, developing full stack embedded software, advising internal teams on sensor stack design and integration, and supporting product release to manufacturing and customer deployment.
This position is open to candidates who are willing to work from North Reading, MA, USA.
The basic qualifications include: Non-internship professional software development experience of 5+ years, 5+ years of programming in at least one software programming language, 4+ years of experience in leading design or architecture of new and current systems, experience as a mentor or leading an engineering team, a bachelor's degree in computer science or its equivalent, high proficiency in C/C++ programming languages, and over 6 years of embedded software development experience.
Preferred qualifications include experience with embedded Linux Kernel, familiarity with electronic schematics, bring-up tests and test equipment, familiarity with Python programming language, experience with sensors (including but not limited to cameras, stereo cameras, time-of-flight sensors, radar, and lidar), excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills, attention to detail, ability to manage a project from conception to production, and ability to handle domestic and international travel as required.
