Research Intern - Game/Realtime Engines for Multimodal Experiences

The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) at Dolby is at the forefront of research, focusing on AI/ML, digital signal processing, and more. As a Research Intern, you will contribute to groundbreaking projects in game/realtime engines, exploring audio, video, haptics, and more to enhance interactivity and immersion.

What We Seek in Candidates

Summary of Position

We're looking for postgraduate students passionate about game/realtime engines for multimodal experiences. You will utilize game engines to prototype, experiment, and understand new interactive, immersive, and perceptual experiences for entertainment, education, and wellbeing.

Preferred expertise includes:

  • Game engine libraries and rendering pipelines
  • Generative AI for AR, VR, and XR
  • Human sensing and computational neuroscience
  • Immersive experiences and personalization

Requirements

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Currently pursuing a master's or Ph.D. in relevant fields
  • Proven experience with game engines for research and development
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.

Highly Desired Experience

Experience in the following areas is a plus:

  • 3D rendering pipelines and libraries
  • Real-time view synthesis
  • Shader programming on Nvidia or Apple hardware
  • Creating research demos and prototypes
  • Technical report writing and publications
  • First-author publications at peer-reviewed conferences

We encourage applications from candidates with related project, volunteer, and extracurricular experiences, even if lacking previous professional experience.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates include those:

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Audio Production, Sound Design, Creative Media Production, or related fields
  • Recent graduates within 6 months of graduation
  • Available to work full-time from September 23, 2024, to December 2024

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this position is $44-57/hr. Actual pay varies based on role, level, location, and individual qualifications.
