The Role

The Data, Analytics & CRM Specialist is a key role in enhancing Maryland Athletics' strategy through data insights. You will employ data analytics to drive marketing strategies, ticket sales, and fan engagement. This position evaluates industry trends, ticket purchase histories, and fan behaviors to optimize revenue streams in Premium Seating, Ticketing, and Fundraising.

Working with departments including Ticketing, Marketing, Media Relations, Premium Seating, and Athletic Fundraising, you will define and document business objectives. Your responsibilities will include requirements analysis, data insights development, and performance monitoring to enhance our data ecosystem. Success in this role demands a team-oriented attitude, organizational excellence, and leadership skills.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate across business units and IT to document and communicate business processes.
  • Oversee data governance and inventory in coordination with IT.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems to enhance statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Generate ad-hoc queries using common reporting tools.
  • Utilize Salesforce and Paciolan to explore additional partnership opportunities.
  • Prepare weekly sales and financial reports, developing data visualizations for performance tracking.
  • Craft strategies to leverage analytics for target audience determination and lead identification.
  • Recommend CRM strategies to sales leadership for prospecting and retention.
  • Enhance data enrichment strategies to provide deeper audience insights.
  • Design and analyze campaigns to increase engagement and revenue.
  • Identify major gift prospects for the Terrapin Club, improving capital gift processes.
  • Oversee season ticket survey processes and analyze results for actionable insights.
  • Track ticket scans for renewal risk identification and perform pricing adjustments for revenue optimization.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years experience with reporting tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • 3+ years of data analysis and report creation experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and R.
  • Understanding of relational databases and dimensional modeling.
  • Strong critical thinking and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience with Cloud systems (Azure/GCP/AWS).
  • 1+ years with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar tools.
  • Graduate degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience in the athletics industry.

Working Conditions

Location: On-Site in College Park, MD

The physical demands of this role require regular sitting, talking, and hearing, as well as using hands and fingers to handle controls. The employee will frequently need to stand, walk, reach, and stoop. Close vision and an ability to adjust focus are also required.
