Position: Data Analytics Support Engineer

Pay Band: Grade 7, starting at 1,205,100 rupees per year

Location: Noida, India

Department: Digital & Technology

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose

As a Data Analytics Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration and support of data and analytics services to ensure user and stakeholder satisfaction. Your duties will include maintaining Azure-based data infrastructure, monitoring data pipelines, troubleshooting, and conducting ETL/ELT operations.

Role Context

The Digital and Technology Directorate at the British Council drives digital strategy and transformation. Key focus areas include:

  • Creating digital products that attract and retain customers
  • Developing and optimizing digital platforms for seamless customer interactions
  • Enhancing digital capability across the organization
  • Enabling growth, impact, and efficiency through technology

The Digital and Technology Directorate is divided into four divisions: Product, Engineering, Operations, and Performance. These teams work together to create, maintain, and optimize digital products and services.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Monitor data processes within Microsoft's data landscape, including Synapse pipelines, Power BI processes, and Fabric jobs
  • Implement and monitor user accounts and security policies
  • Ensure efficient use of cloud resources and provide analysis and prediction of cloud costs
  • Guide business users through technical issues via phone, email, or Teams
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and escalate complex issues as necessary
  • Support new capabilities in machine learning and data science
  • Regularly interact with support teams to update on issues and performance
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers for knowledge exchange
  • Plan and prioritize team activities to ensure effective delivery

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in supporting Data and Analytics systems in a global corporate environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Data and Analytics tools (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Azure Monitoring)
  • Familiarity with Power BI
  • Track record of taking ownership and supporting change

Desirable

  • Microsoft Azure Synapse certification
  • Microsoft Power BI and Fabric certification
