Job Purpose:

The Junior Data Engineer position at Nedbank is designed to harness the power of data and technology in alignment with our Data Architecture Roadmap. This role contributes to technical advancements at an enterprise level, delivers tailored data products, and supports strategic data initiatives. Our Data Engineers play a crucial role in enhancing data infrastructure, enabling advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI, providing stakeholders with essential data.

Key Responsibilities:

- Daily management of data pipelines and support for data squads
- Data Infrastructure maintenance ensuring security, availability, and reliability
- Development and maintenance of data pipelines, data ingestion, and provisioning
- Creating and maintaining visual data bases and data extractions based on business requirements
- Collaborate on data profiling, validation, and documentation
- Monitoring of Nedbank Data Warehouse and Cloud services to support operational efficiency

Required Qualifications:

- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees in Bcom, BSc, BEng

Preferred Certifications:

- Cloud (Azure, AWS) certifications
- DEVOPS or Data engineering certifications
- Data Science certifications such as those from Coursera, Udemy, SAS, or Microsoft

Experience Level Required:

- 1-2 years of relevant experience with a knack for analytical and innovative problem solving
- A proven track record in a team environment and agile delivery methodologies

Technical / Professional Knowledge:

- Cloud Data Engineering (Azure, AWS, Google)
- Data Warehousing and Databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, IBM DB2)
- Data Analysis, Data Modelling, and ETL tools (Ab Initio, ADB, ADF, SAS ETL)
- Agile Delivery Principles
