Position Overview

The Data Reporting and Analytics Manager will be in charge of managing policies and systems to ensure that student data is accurately, promptly, and completely entered across the district; that data is collected and reported in accordance with federal, state, local, KIPP Foundation, KIPP authorizer, and grant requirements; and that this data is accessible to KIPP stakeholders in a way that effectively informs strategies that enhance student learning. You will be the primary contact for federal, state, local, and KIPP Foundation entities regarding reporting requirements. You will guide, and collaborate with, school staff, data management vendors, and other stakeholders. You will supervise critical aspects of KIPP St. Louis’s Student Information System. Regular travel between schools and the regional office may be necessary.

Job Description

Position type: Full time, 12 month exempt

We invite you to serve in the following roles:

Student Data Processes and Integrity

  • Set expectations for, and methods of measuring, data health and integrity
  • Compile best practices, establish regional standards, and design step-by-step guides related to student information management
  • Train relevant stakeholders annually on the critical importance of data integrity and essential processes for ensuring it
  • Develop targeted trainings and user guides for select stakeholders on the proper entry, maintenance, auditing, and refinement of student data, and re-train stakeholders as needed to ensure data accuracy throughout the year
  • Coordinate and conduct routine data audit process and assess progress against established expectations
  • Regularly communicate the status of data health in KIPP St. Louis and any remediation steps needed to improve data integrity
  • Manage account creation and security privileges for a wide variety of academic information systems

Student Data Compliance and Reporting

  • Act as the primary point-of-contact with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regarding state and federal data reporting and compliance requirements
  • Act as the district’s expert on, and manager of, Core Data submissions, Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP) data submissions, and other DESE data requirements
  • Project manage the timely and accurate submission of all of KIPP St. Louis’s compliance and data reporting requirements, including federal, state, local, KIPP Foundation, KIPP authorizer, and grant requirements
  • Create and maintain a master calendar and project management tool for all compliance and data reporting requirements
  • Develop, abide by, and annually refine compliance-related policies and procedures
  • Train relevant stakeholders annually on compliance- and data-related requirements and policies
  • Regularly convene key stakeholders, and manage ongoing communications and problem-solving with them, to ensure timely compilation, review, and submission of all required data
  • Establish relationships with and be the primary contact for all compliance-related vendors and entities

Student Data Analytics and Knowledge Sharing

  • Establish and communicate criteria for excellence in the accessibility, manipulation, and analysis of student data to drive performance outcomes
  • Create and maintain a regional dashboard that shares progress regarding key district-wide goals in a way that can be easily and effectively used by educators and administrators to enhance student learning
  • Design, implement, and refine additional strategies for sharing student progress with families, staff, and community stakeholders in a format that facilitates easy understanding of, and action around, the data
  • Accommodate ad hoc student data reporting requests from internal and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Provide training and continuous support to users of KIPP St. Louis’s student data systems
  • Manage relationships with student data vendors
  • Address issues related to data accessibility and data accuracy promptly and effectively
  • Evaluate the need for system improvements and propose custom solutions or alternative systems
  • Work closely with the regional academic team to integrate, share, and report data across various sources
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in compliance or data reporting and/or analytics

Preferred skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience with Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary education data compliance requirements, particularly the Core Data submission protocols: K-12; Higher Ed, or state government agency
  • Experience with PowerSchool and/or similar student information systems
  • Proficiency in Excel-based data manipulation
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead a team
  • Ability to quickly build positive relationships and use those relationships to meet deadlines
