Job Description
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Sciences (DS) team at Locus Robotics concentrates on merging sophisticated software technologies with advancements in various aspects of AI and DS fields such as Deep Learning & Deep Reinforcement Learning, Advanced Analytics, Generative AI, Decision Sciences, Operations Research, IoT/Simulation, Computational Perception, AI-based Goal Planning and cloud-based software to deliver unique, enabling, and innovative solutions for different facets of autonomous robotic and autonomous robot fleet operations.
The Senior Director role serves as a dynamic, hands-on, innovation minded leader in applying these technologies to the intriguing field of autonomous robots and their applications, particularly in the realm of intralogistics and industrial automation.
Job Responsibilities:
This leader will work with internal teams and external clients to:
- Offer leadership and/or specialized expertise in developing various analytics related products (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics) and play a crucial role in contributing to the monetization of these products.
- Plan and manage large-scale projects, aiming for quick market introduction by using agile methodologies.
- Utilize modern AI and machine learning methods to address complex problems involving solution synthesis that can tangibly streamline AMR operations.
- Create innovative perception-based solutions, leveraging advances in sensor technology and sensor fusion algorithms and the power of AI and IoT at the edge and in the cloud, that can demonstrably increase the efficiency and effectiveness of highly autonomous robotic fleets.
- Contribute to the application of deep learning and deep reinforcement learning in mobile robotic navigation, control & planning, and optimization algorithms (notably involving Adaptive and Reinforcement Learning.)
- Take advantage of advances in Generative AI, including LLMs, to enhance operations of autonomous robots.
- Build a skilled AI/ML, Big Data, Analytics, and computational perception team fostering a culture of innovation and commercial aptitude in the team's operations.
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to create a state of the art MLOps practice that can support innovation as well as customer deployment activities.
Qualifications
- A Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics preferably with a concentration on Machine Learning and AI.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in developing engineering/software solutions.
- Experience managing teams and delivering projects within set timeframes and budgets.
- At least 8 years of experience in developing solutions in the domain of Analytics, AI/ML, or computational perception.
- A minimum of 5 years experience leading AI/ML teams with demonstrated experience in supporting AI/ML production products.
- Proficiency in applying Data Sciences, and/or AI-based computer vision and/or Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) & Deep Learning methodologies to a diverse range of commercial applications including, but not limited to, classification problems, prediction problems, sensor fusion and perception projects, optimization projects, navigation and control algorithms and problems.
- Familiarity with Generative AI paradigm and LLM approaches.
- A working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to program in one or more high-level languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java, C#) in conjunction with widely used AI/ML SDKs.
- Experience with Cloud and Edge AI software development.
- Experience identifying and working with key partners in the field.
- Experience in managing customer serving DS/AI products in production environments.
- Familiarity with best practices for MLOps.
