Job Description Summary
We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to collaborate with our team of quantitative scientists, domain experts, and product developers. Your role will be crucial in answering scientific questions using the data42 platform, applying and developing analytical methods, and predictive models that enhance research and drug development programs. You'll also aid in the development of reusable analytical pipelines and advocate for best data science practices within the project.
As a data42 Data Scientist, you'll contribute significantly to the platform's design, ensuring it is accessible and valuable to the entire data science and AI community at Novartis.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with expertise in two or more of the following areas:
- Analysis of omics data of various modalities
- Experience with CRM data (Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolism)
- Applied/computational data science and large-scale/big data computation
- Development and management of disease area-focused data pools
- Biostatistics for clinical data (SDTM/ADAM) and/or real-world evidence (RWE) data
- Machine learning/deep learning and large language models
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing support to scientific teams to achieve their goals at data42
- Accelerating data science activities through the development of reusable data preparation and analysis pipelines
- Developing frameworks for key results generation, quality benchmarks, data models, and impact assessments
- Applying expertise in machine learning, deep learning, data visualization, and data analytics towards team goals
- Acting as an advocate for good data science practices across data42
Desirable Skills:
We would value additional skills in two or more of the following areas:
- Knowledge of CDISC data standards (SDTM, ADaM)
- Experience in pooling clinical trial data
- Understanding the drug discovery and development process
- Experience in the CRM field (Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolism)
- Experience with computational environments (e.g., high-performance computing, Spark)
- Statistical and machine learning, and/or applied deep learning methods for time series data
- Experience using the Foundry platform for data analysis
Minimum Requirements:
- Preferably a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical sector
- Experience with bioinformatics (DNA/RNA/proteomics data analysis) and/or statistical genetics and/or biostatistics
- Strong experience with R or Python for data analysis and statistical modeling
- Proven experience using machine learning models for clinical endpoint prediction using multimodal data
- Experience with AI/GenAI/LLMs to automate or accelerate data-related processes
- Proficiency in principles and tools of good data science practice (e.g., git/versioning)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
