The Operations Delivery & Technical People Experience and Technologies (ODT PXT) - People Analytics Team strives to provide our leaders with the insights they need about their Amazon employee populations to enhance our workforce and support employee experience under the Human Resources umbrella. Within Amazon, Operations Delivery & Tech oversees the Middle and Last Mile, including Sort Center, Air, Surface Transportation, GSF, AMZL, AMXL business lines along with several other supporting groups. Our focus is on high-value analytical issues, narrating the story behind the data, and foreseeing for our leaders. The team seeks a Business Analyst with a strategic vision, sharp customer focus, exceptional consulting capabilities, and remarkable analytical skills. Our team guides the PXT (HR) leadership with data-based insights, scientific research, and compelling storytelling to fulfill business goals and personnel priorities, enables profound insights for decision making process, and collaborates across various business lines and other Amazon Central teams to enhance data capability and bridge the gaps using more collaborative tactics. Most of our work revolves around employee time and attendance data, retention and employee experience measurement, and leadership development. As a senior team member, you will be required to head initiatives and direct cross team projects while coordinating resources. You will also need to utilize strong data extraction skills to drive global analysis deliverables, establish novel datasets and metrics for deep-dive analyses and dashboards aimed at cross-functional audiences. Furthermore, you will advance scientific research methods within operations, yet modify the approach as per the business requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and exercise solid judgement and organization skills to handle competing priorities. Successful team members cooperate to solve data issues, are intrigued in exploring new ways of working with and visualizing data, and are adept at turning business needs into practical deliverables. This position will necessitate at least 3 days a week in the office. Key Job Responsibilities: - Design an analytical approach, and present findings using data, visualizations, and effective storytelling techniques. - Develop new tools and business processes that simplify, standardize and execute operational excellence. - Be resourceful in extracting and cross-referencing data from a range of sources. - Conduct research studies to test business hypotheses with statistical conclusions. - Translate findings into succinct, actionable business insights, often in coordination with partners to tell a comprehensive story. - Apply a variety of tools and analytical techniques to answer a broad range of high-impact people-related business questions. - Solve ambiguous problems by formulating and facilitating solutions that meet organization's needs and requirements. - Exhibit excellence in execution by effectively using program management skills, communicating with stakeholders to deliver and timelines, and balancing and prioritizing multiple and sometimes shifting priorities. - Capture the appropriate metrics to influence stakeholders and measure success. - Travelling occasionally to internal meetings and fact-finding sessions. About the Team: The team is diverse, with its leadership coming from operations, computer science, I/O psychology, and business intelligence backgrounds. Our People Analytics team is 18 months old and originated from the merger of smaller analytics teams serving individual business lines. The team bridges the gap between large global priorities and local needs. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of the following locations: Bellevue, WA, USA | Nashville, TN, USA Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, engineering, I/O psychology, mathematics, economics, or analytics. - 5-7 years of business or financial analysis, product costing, procurement, or a quantitative role experience. - 6+ years of writing SQL queries and creating business intelligence reports using Tableau, Power BI experience. - Experience setting technical requirements for process automation. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, expertise in deriving insights through data analysis, and practical knowledge and experience in inferential statistical application. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in statistics, engineering, I/O psychology, mathematics, economics, or MBA. - High-level leadership and decision-making skills; advanced analytical, process development, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills to convey key insights from complex analyses in summarized business terms to non-technical leaders. - Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of audiences including senior business leaders and cross-functional colleagues. - Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and ambiguous environment by combining analytical rigor and judgement. - Proven record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, utilizing prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines, multitask, and manage workload. - Experience in developing audit reports and metrics decks and defining technical requirements and working with systems resources. - Expertise in Excel, SQL, Python, and/or other HRIS systems.
