Role: Communications Surveillance Vice President

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $144,000.00 and $180,000.00. The actual salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications, experience, and market conditions. This role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. SMBC also offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Communications Surveillance Vice President will report to the Lead of Transformation, Audit and Reporting within the Compliance Communications Surveillance function. This role is crucial in developing, deploying, and maintaining Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other model-based capabilities for the Communications Surveillance Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee development, deployment, and maintenance of NLP in the Communications Surveillance program.
  • Create strategies to address false positives, enhance detection of risks, and identify new misconduct trends.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for NLP deliverables.
  • Prepare metrics and reporting for management on the effectiveness of NLP in communications surveillance.
  • Collaborate with Technology to develop, test, and implement technology solutions.
  • Partner with the Model Risk Team to review and approve NLP usage.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in legal or financial industries.
  • Expertise in developing, deploying, and maintaining processes and technologies for electronic legal discovery or communications surveillance.
  • Experience in developing, training, and deploying models.
  • High comfort level with technology solutions related to electronic legal discovery or communications surveillance.
