Brown & Brown is looking for an Underwriting System Administrator and Data Specialist to join our team in Ephrata, Washington. The Underwriting Systems Administrator will handle all facets of data extraction, storage, and structuring of underwriting data. This role will propose, implement and uphold underwriting data, including rating structures. The role will act as the main point of reference for the underwriting and policy administration system. It will oversee data quality assurance and verification functions, fostering cross-departmental data availability and reporting. This role will report to and support the underwriting department, whilst also work closely with other analytical and data teams as needed. WHAT YOU'LL DO: 1. Manage system interfaces for internal and external users. 2. Analyze, diagnose, and remedy system functionality issues, including error and bug fixes. 3. Develop, maintain, and monitor rating structures in the policy system, providing recommendations for more efficient rating methods. 4. Integrate new pools/programs into underwriting software programs. 5. Create, update, and maintain dashboards and application forms within the system. 6. Control documents, access to documents, and the file folder structure within the system. 7. Oversee system reporting functions, including the generation, verification, and publication of regularly scheduled and special reports and custom views of system data requested by system users. 8. Cooperate with Business Analysts to document business requirements for new functionalities and enhancements requested by system users. 9. Serve as the main technical contact with the system vendor on functionality issues, updates, and enhancements, including management of the system support ticket system. 10. Generate, update, and maintain mail merge templates used within the system (particularly invoices, new business and renewal documents, and policy documents), including all form tags and form tag extensions utilized therein. 11. Control the Data Dictionary within the system, including the creation and updating of custom fields and code tables. 12. Manage batch processes and data entry events within the system. 13. Act as the key point of contact for all system users about errors and functionality issues and manage all such issues to successful resolution. 14. Collaborate closely with IT Support and act as a liaison to other departments regarding system functionality and the flow of underwriting data to other areas of the system. 15. Collaborate with other analytics personnel to ensure the accuracy and integrity of system-generated data through validation reporting and reconciliations. 16. Assist in company-wide data initiatives and priorities and communicate Underwriting’s business needs. 17. Help in other job-related projects or assignments as delegated and assigned. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 1. 1-5 years of experience as an administrator of structural database systems, including understanding table and query relationships and functions. 2. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. 3. Familiarity with languages such as XML, JavaScript, HTML, JSON, and CSS. 4. Experience in accessing and manipulating databases using Excel, Access, and SQL tools. 5. Intermediate to expert level experience with Excel, including working with advanced formulas and PivotTables. 6. Preferred: Degree in computer science or related field 7. Familiarity with Origami or similar Policy Administration software 8. Experience in complex policy rating structures. 9. Experience in developing and implementing standards, procedures, and guidelines to support operational processes. 10. Knowledge of and experience with data visualization and dashboard software such as PowerBI. 11. Property and Casualty Producer license 12. Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline preferred. 13. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in project management. 14. PMP certification preferred. 15. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Teams. 16. Strong verbal, analytical, and written communication skills. 17.
