Role Overview: Analytics Engineer, Enterprise Systems Team

As an Analytics Engineer at Instructure, you will play a crucial role at the intersection of business teams and technical teams. You will be responsible for developing integrated data models and products that efficiently serve business needs. Your ability to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions, coupled with your expertise in various data engineering concepts, will drive success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Employ data engineering skills, including ELT and scripting languages to update and optimize data processes.
• Construct solid EL data frameworks for aggregating data from diverse external sources into our internal data warehouse.
• Partner with team members to capture business requirements, define success metrics for analytics, and architect robust data models.
• Enhance our enterprise dimensional model with dbt code; ensure adherence to internal best practices including our SQL Style Guide in a high-scale database setting.
• Participate as a Data Team Reviewer, endorsing changes to data model designs and owning specific schemas.
• Offer data modeling expertise throughout the company, improving database design and queries in Snowflake through reviews and training sessions.

What We Look For:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, Statistics, or Finance.
• Proactive, positive, and solutions-driven approach.
• At least 3 years of experience in the data field, with specific expertise in commercial Kimball enterprise dimensional models.
• Proficiency in dbt, AWS, Python, Spark, and Databricks is preferred.
• Strong capability in setting up job alerts to manage failures and inaccuracies.
• Effective communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify complex technical details and business goals.
• Insightful experience in critical business areas such as marketing, finance, sales, and customer support.
