About the Applied Reinforcement Learning Team

The Applied Reinforcement Learning team spearheads all reinforcement learning applications across Meta's Family of Apps and Reality Labs. Our mission is to bridge the gap between theoretical reinforcement learning and real-world problems through industry-leading research. We also manage Meta's central reinforcement learning platform, ReAgent (reagent.ai), which is available as an open-source resource.

Role Overview: Applied AI Research Scientist - Reinforcement Learning

We are in search of dedicated Research Scientists aiming to bring reinforcement learning to large-scale real-world systems. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with top-tier researchers and work on cutting-edge algorithms to enhance practical applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research to advance machine learning and reinforcement learning technologies.
• Develop superior data-driven models of human behavior.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate research plans, progress, and outcomes.
• Apply state-of-the-art reinforcement learning technologies to improve Meta users' experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• In the process of obtaining or has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field, with the degree completed prior to joining Meta.
• Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Authorized to work in the country of employment during the period of employment.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, or other related programming languages.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with reinforcement learning in applied areas beyond simple simulators.
• Proven experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing high-volume, high-dimensional data.
• Experience building systems based on machine learning, reinforcement learning, and/or deep learning methods.
• Proven track record of achieving significant results with grants, publications, patents, etc.
• Experience with software engineering via internships, work, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in cross-functional team environments.

Compensation and Benefits
