About the Role

We are actively looking for an Applied Research Scientist to become a part of our dynamic Content Understanding team within our Modern Recommendation Systems (MRS) division. This role involves enhancing multimodal perception capabilities, overcoming research hurdles, and creating high-impact, scalable models right from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities

As a core team member, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing advanced algorithms based on cutting-edge machine learning and neural network methodologies.
  • Conducting rigorous research to decode the semantics of various data forms, including images, videos, and their correlations with text, audio, speech, and other modalities.
  • Evaluating model performances thoroughly.
  • Transitioning models from prototype phase to production across a global team setup.
  • Leading and collaborating on research projects and partnering with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A PhD in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Proven research background in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or related domains.
  • At least 2 years of industry or academic research experience in pioneering computer vision technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python or similar languages and experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Ability to tackle complex research issues and provide solutions.
  • Required work authorization in the country of employment at time of hire and maintenance throughout the employment tenure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable history of significant results as showcased by grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at premier conferences (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV).
  • Experience in handling complex challenges and evaluating different solutions, trade-offs, and viewpoints to chart the best course forward.
  • Experience in leading, planning, and managing long-term research-to-production projects.
  • Strong communicative and collaborative skills in a team setting.

Location and Compensation

This role is available at various Meta locations. The salary range is $143,000/year to $208,000/year plus bonuses, equity, and additional benefits. Please note that the individual pay rate will be determined by your skills, qualifications, and experience.
