Role Overview

As an Applied Research Scientist – Quantum-inspired and Randomized Algorithms – Sr. Associate within GTAR, you will advance the field of quantum-inspired and randomized algorithms. Key responsibilities include implementing developed algorithms in high-performance software, providing innovative research solutions to internal project teams, and contributing to JPMC’s intellectual property by pursuing necessary protections. This role offers a rare opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging area with a talented and growing team.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and advance quantum-inspired and randomized algorithms for optimization, machine learning, and financial applications.
• Implement these algorithms in performant software.
• Provide novel research solutions to internal project teams' challenges.
• Collaborate with other researchers to document findings in scientific papers and present them at conferences.
• Protect generated IP by pursuing necessary protections.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in computer science, physics, math, engineering, or related fields.
• Proven research capability in quantum-inspired algorithms or related areas.
• Experience in scientific technical writing.
• Proficiency in Python or C/C++.
• Ability to develop high-performance codes.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey findings to a non-technical audience.
• Experience in domains such as quantum-inspired algorithms (dequantized algorithms, tensor networks, Ising solvers), randomized algorithms (streaming algorithms, data sketching techniques), architectural design for efficient implementation, and GPU programming (CUDA, SYCL).

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong publication record in venues such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, ISCA, HPCA, STOC, or FOCS.
• No prior experience in finance or financial applications required.
• Preference for candidates providing a Google Scholar or Semantic Scholar profile link in their resume.
