Join the Tools and Machine Learning (Tamale) Team

As a part of InTech, the Tamale team strives to solve complex catalog quality problems using advanced machine learning and data analysis. You’ll work with the latest big data and machine learning technologies, contributing to the improvement of Amazon's catalog technology stack. Together, we aim to enhance the customer experience by addressing and preventing defects in Amazon's catalog items.

Key Responsibilities

We seek passionate and inventive Scientists with a strong machine learning background. Your dedication and problem-solving skills will be highly valued as you:

  • Collaborate with business partners to identify innovative opportunities.
  • Apply machine learning solutions to automate processes, scale systems, and improve catalog data quality.
  • Work with business leaders, scientists, and product managers to translate business requirements into concrete deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy highly scalable distributed services.
  • Influence the scientific roadmap of a team comprising 5 scientists and 13 engineers.
  • Set standards for scientific excellence using state-of-the-art models, including image-to-text, LLMs, and GenAI.
  • Contribute to improving the experience of millions of Amazon customers in Europe and beyond.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field.
  • Experience in building models for business applications.
  • Published research in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly in computer vision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.
  • Familiarity with popular deep learning frameworks like MxNet and TensorFlow.
  • Proficiency in machine learning techniques for fast and accurate extraction of visual features (shape, pose, segmentation) from photographs.
