Key Responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist I in the Amazon Buyer Risk Prevention (BRP) Machine Learning group, you will:
  • Employ machine learning and statistical methods to design scalable risk management systems.
  • Analyze Amazon’s expansive historical business data to identify risk instances and trends.
  • Develop, evaluate, and innovate predictive models for risk management.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate real-time model implementations and feature development.
  • Work alongside operations to enhance risk management procedures.
  • Create and maintain automated processes for large-scale data analysis, model development, and validation.
  • Research and apply novel machine learning and statistical techniques.
  • Provide regular, insightful reports to management on business metrics.

Location Flexibility

We are open to candidates based in Seattle, WA, USA or other approved locations.

What You’ll Bring

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in programming with Java, C++, Python, or a similar language.
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with RDBMS like Oracle or Data Warehouse systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-onexperience in developing algorithms using both existing toolkits and custom code.
  • Contributions to top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
