Role Purpose and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and report safety, compliance, and regulatory concerns on Hyundai and Genesis models.
- Create escalation material for review.
- Collaborate with Engineers from the Safety Emerging Issues and Vehicle Safety Investigation team to assist in emerging issue detection and analysis.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Analyze consumer complaint data, field reports, legal cases, supplier information, dealer reports, plant info, other safety recalls, compliance metrics, NHTSA VOQ data, and warranty data to spot safety-related defects or FMVSS non-compliances in Hyundai production vehicles.
- Conduct timely, data-driven investigations upon identifying potential issues.
- Determine preliminary severity, occurrence, and detectability scores using established metrics.
- Track and manage assigned cases to meet KPI requirements (e.g., handle time, response time, reporting deadlines).
- Summarize findings for management review, clearly defining identified issues and necessary parameters.
- Provide immediate notification to upper management for potential catastrophic defects requiring stop sale or immediate field action.
Authority and Collaborations
This position grants access to Hyundai’s expert resources for thorough investigations and a direct line to upper management for reporting critical issues. Collaboration with Hyundai's design, manufacturing, and supplier affiliates is essential as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Education: High school graduate; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Five or more years of relevant work experience, including timely investigations into equipment failure modes, data analysis, and one or more years in the automotive industry focusing on vehicle safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, or service quality.
Skills and Knowledge
- Results-driven with exceptional project and program management abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate creatively with peers, component experts, and leadership to resolve investigations.
- Competence in managing multiple investigations concurrently.
- Skill in accessing and utilizing corporate expertise for investigated issues.
- Preferred thorough automotive technical knowledge with specific insights into vehicle systems like powertrain, chassis, electrical, crashworthiness, etc.
- Familiarity with federal regulations related to automotive safety.
- Proficiency in analyzing high-volume technical data.
- Excellent communication skills with various Hyundai departments.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $69,300 - $99,000 annually
