As an Associate Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing stable, scalable, and user-friendly data platforms leveraging AWS and Databricks Lakehouse technologies. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must reside in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to create self-service data movement and access patterns.
  • Guide stakeholders in building complex datasets to meet business needs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and infrastructure optimization.
  • Support distributed systems design and data lake frameworks, utilizing Scala or Python and Spark.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines adhering to Data Governance and Security Standards.
  • Provide on-call support for incident resolution and perform root cause analysis for critical outages.
  • Document environments and data tooling supporting our products.

Qualifications

  • 0-1+ years of software development experience, preferably with Java and Python.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of data concepts, table schemas, and data file formats like CSV or Parquet.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database design principles.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud Services (EC2, S3), Scala, Spark, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi, and message brokers such as Kafka or Kinesis is a plus.
