About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Machine Learning Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in helping ASOS offer the best shopping experience to our millions of customers. This role provides wide exposure to ASOS, requiring close collaboration with our retail, marketing, and technology departments. You will be part of a highly innovative AI platform, partnering with data engineers and machine learning scientists to tackle and operationalise complex and challenging problems by leveraging cutting-edge technology. As an online-only retailer at ASOS, we have unique datasets -transactions and click streams for millions of customers and photos, videos, and text descriptions of hundreds of thousands of products.

We are looking for an ideal candidate with a strong technical background and experience in dealing with large datasets. You should be a highly intelligent, self-motivated individual, able to work independently with a keen eye for detail.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and enhancing internal and external facing data products as part of a cross-functional team
  • Driving the implementation and scaling up of algorithms for measurable impact across the business
  • Deploying batch/online machine learning models at the scale that ASOS operates
  • Creating tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that expedite the delivery of our ML products and optimize our operations
  • Participating actively in our AI platform to establish ML Ops standards and maintain quality across our portfolio
  • Supporting our culture by promoting diversity, equity and inclusion strategies

Qualifications

Who We’d Like to Meet

We would love to meet someone with…

  • A degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or similar field
  • Practical experience in building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models at scale using Python, Scala, .NET, or similar languages
  • Comfortable working with at least one machine learning framework (example: TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Experience in accessing and combining data from various sources and building data pipelines in a cloud environment, especially large scale data computation technologies like Apache Spark
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, engineering practices (data pipelines, API workflows, CI/CD, containerization), specifically ML Ops principles, techniques, and tools
  • The capacity to work collaboratively and proactively in a fast-paced environment with both scientists, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the retail, marketing, or e-commerce industry is an advantage
