About Pfizer’s Anti-Infectives Research Unit

The Anti-Infectives (AI) Research Unit at Pfizer is dedicated to developing novel therapies that revolutionize patients' lives. This unique opportunity allows an exceptional scientist to apply their expertise in virology and antiviral therapeutics towards discovering new drugs for treating, curing, and preventing infectious diseases. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in identifying novel antiviral targets and therapeutic molecules through assay development and mechanism-of-action analysis.

Role Responsibilities

As an Associate Research Fellow in the Anti-Infectives Research Unit, you will:

  • Collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams to advance drug discovery projects.
  • Promote innovative experimental approaches within the unit.
  • Identify and validate novel therapeutic targets and hypotheses.
  • Develop and implement advanced research methods.
  • Perform data analyses and integrate resources for new insights into disease biology and therapeutics.
  • Communicate findings with internal teams, leadership, and external collaborators.
  • Publish research in high-quality scientific journals.
  • Participate in collaborations with external academic and industry partners.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership, overseeing daily activities to meet team goals.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in virology, molecular biology, antiviral therapeutics, drug discovery, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8-12 years of post-PhD work experience in an academic, biopharma, or biotech setting.
  • Experience in advanced virology methodology and antiviral approaches.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A solid background in virology, antiviral drug discovery, molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology.
  • Experience with viral-host interactions and viral disease understanding.
  • Proven ability in advancing biomedical discovery and publishing research.
  • Work experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to influence and collaborate with peers.

Physical/Mental Requirements

The role primarily involves sitting/standing at a desk and moving through office spaces. Limited travel is required.

Work Schedule and Location

This position is based on-premise with possible attendance at national or international meetings. Relocation support is available.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $149,200.00 to $248,600.00 per year. This role is eligible for Pfizer's Global Performance Plan and long-term incentive program. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid vacation, health benefits, and more. Learn more on our .
