What you will do:

Ancestry is seeking an exceptional, passionate, and highly motivated Business Intelligence Data Analytics Engineer Intern to join our Supply Chain Analytics team this summer. The Supply Chain Analytics team provides analytical support to various teams within the DNA organization, such as Operations, Hard Goods, Engineering, and Design & Optimization’s program and product management. The team also supports business growth for DNA.

As a BI Data Analytics Engineer Intern on the Supply Chain Analytics team, you will spearhead the development of a cutting-edge system using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Your responsibilities include creating a comprehensive product roadmap, obtaining approvals, and executing the implementation of data ingestion pipelines. You will play a crucial role in driving innovation, promoting collaboration, and ensuring consistent value delivery to our customers through our data infrastructure.

  • Develop a strategic roadmap for data ingestion from third parties, including creating an EDI Prototyping Model and conducting thorough research on the setup.
  • Design and implement data ingestion pipelines using APIs and EDIs to facilitate a seamless flow of external data.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify and define data requirements, design optimal data solutions, and ensure their timely delivery.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to delivering enduring value to our customers, emphasizing inclusivity and transparency.
  • Promote large-scale innovation, which drives greater impact across the organization.

Who You Are:

  • A passionate and self-driven person capable of thriving in an environment with ambiguity and showing an unyielding commitment to achieving goals.
  • Proficient in using data tools such as Python, PostgreSQL, Tableau, ERP systems, Redshift, and ETL processes, with a profound understanding of various data sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate complex ideas and solutions.
  • Able to focus on essential details, communicate concisely, and persuade people in all directions.
  • Past experience in ETL and data engineering is a valuable asset, showcasing your expertise in data integration.

Internship Program Details:

  • Students must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution, set to graduate after August 2024.
  • Summer 2024 program dates are May 13 – September 6 (Please note we offer three intern onboarding dates: May 13th, May 28th, and June 10th. Students may offboard every Friday, starting August 9th. All internships must be finished by September 6th).
  • FULLY PAID temporary housing and travel to and from the internship are provided.
  • All summer internships will be in Lehi, Utah. You will work a combined hybrid and office-based schedule, allowing you to choose which days to work in the office and from temporary housing/home (for Utah students).
  • Interns have the opportunity to network and partner with other interns and professionals in the industry.
  • You will participate in engaging events, including executive speaker sessions, professional development, and our annual Intern Days to showcase your projects and work.
  • You are expected to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/week), from Monday to Friday.
  • A company-issued laptop and equipment will be provided for the duration of the internship program.
