About the Role: Business Intelligence Data Engineer

Data is at the heart of every decision we make at Klaviyo. We’re seeking a dedicated Business Intelligence Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence (BI) team. The BI team works across all departments to provide solutions for our data, analytics, and reporting needs. Our mission is to champion data-driven value creation, and you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers Klaviyo’s business.

Technologies We Use

  • Snowflake, BigQuery, and dbt
  • Kafka, Fivetran, Airbyte, and Workato
  • ThoughtSpot, Tableau, and dbt metrics
  • Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, Lambda, Sagemaker, etc.), Terraform

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the “source of truth” data environment utilized across Klaviyo.
  • Work with petabyte-scale databases optimized for business analytics.
  • Develop data models that drive predictive recommendations, marketing attribution, and financial forecasts to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate regularly with teams from Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Product, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Work alongside a team of data engineers and analysts to build a world-class, self-service data environment.

Qualifications

We’re looking for individuals who are creators at heart and understand the significance of a well-designed data environment. You should have:

  • 2+ years of data or software engineering experience, including expertise in SQL and object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, or C++).
  • Experience in database design, 3NF, denormalization, or star schema.
  • Proficiency with Big Data technologies (Snowflake, Databricks/Spark, Kafka).
  • Good understanding of reporting tools like Tableau, Looker, or ThoughtSpot.
  • Familiarity with deploying new tools and technologies.
  • Comfortable handling massive amounts of semi-structured data.
  • Knowledge of data engineering best practices.

Benefits and Compensation

This role offers a competitive base pay range for U.S. locations: $101,600—$152,400 USD.
