Your Role

As a Climate Data Specialist within our Climate Resilience team, you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of cutting-edge risk assessment methods and tools.
  • Collaborate closely with customer-facing business units and internal technical departments such as Group Accumulation Management, Group Re, and Commercial Insurance Underwriting.
  • Source, analyze, and visualize data sets (hazard, exposures, controls) to aid in the assessment of natural hazards and climate change risks.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Developments

  • Support the continuous development and updating of climate and natural hazards data.
  • Monitor global sustainability regulations and frameworks to identify climate data needs and develop relevant datasets.
  • Assist in creating data processing and visualization tools.

Customer Projects

  • Source and analyze data from internal and open-source databases.
  • Transform natural hazard and climate change exposure data into actionable insights to help customers build climate change resilience.

Communication

  • Create, maintain, and share internal training and knowledge content on natural hazards and climate change.
  • Facilitate climate data knowledge sharing across the CCRS community and with internal stakeholders and customers.

What You Bring

To excel as a Climate Data Specialist, you should have:

  • A Master’s degree in natural/environmental/atmospheric sciences.
  • In-depth knowledge of climate change and natural hazards science, models, and their practical applications.
  • Experience in spatial data management, spatial analysis, climate data, and visualization, including big datasets and transforming data into insights.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey complex concepts to all management levels and stakeholders with varying technical proficiencies.
  • High proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, ArcGIS, and programming languages (R, Python, etc.).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with a strong customer service orientation. Additional languages are an asset.
