About the Program

Our Advanced Technology Group (ATG) serves as Dolby’s research division. ATG’s mission is to deliver forward-thinking insights and innovate technological solutions that support Dolby’s continued growth. We specialize in cutting-edge fields such as AI/ML, digital signal processing, audio engineering, image processing, and more.

What We’re Looking For:

We seek candidates who excel technically, possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and have a deep curiosity about how and why things work. Ideal candidates are passionate about audio, video, movies, music, or game technology and eager to collaborate and learn from others.

  • Real-time gaming/simulation engine skills such as Unreal
  • Experience with volumetric video rendering to 2D screens and HMDs
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Matlab, or similar languages
  • Machine learning techniques and algorithms proficiency
  • Understanding of scientific research and experimental design

Responsibilities:

  • Design immersive virtual environments that offer complete audiovisual experiences
  • Conduct experiments in computational neuroscience, perception science, and multimodal AI
  • Collect and analyze multimodal data using state-of-the-art tools
  • Develop algorithms for signal processing and analysis of human experiential data
  • Incorporate subjective data into machine learning models to enhance their performance
  • Present findings and contribute to research papers and patents

Candidate Requirements:

  • Pursuing a PhD in neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering, cognitive science, biomedical engineering, or related fields
  • Proficiency in real-time gaming/simulation engines
  • Experience with audio and visual elements of virtual environments
  • Strong programming and prototyping skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

Eligibility:

PhD candidates and recent graduates (within 6 months of graduation) are eligible. This internship is a full-time position from September 23, 2024, to December 2024. Candidates should be available to work Monday to Friday for the duration of the internship.

The San Francisco/Bay Area hourly range for this position is $44-57/hr, and may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Your recruiter will provide more details on compensation and benefits during the hiring process.
