About the Role

Nissan is looking for an avid Computer System Research Engineer for the Nissan Advanced Technology Center - Silicon Valley (NATC-SV). This multi-disciplinary team is pushing the boundaries of automotive technology. From developing behavior-aware autonomous driving systems to personalizing BEV energy management and designing new experiences, our staff at NATC-SV are revolutionizing mobility.

Key Responsibilities

As a Computer System Engineer/Researcher, you will lead the research and development of ARM-based high-performance computer (HPC) systems with domain-specific accelerators. You will manage the full stack of new HPC systems to ensure our workload for AD operates with the highest performance, safety, and security. Your role includes leadership, mentoring, and hands-on contribution, applying your work to real vehicle prototypes.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Apply technical expertise in disciplines such as ARM-based HPC, workload profiling, ARM IP, ARM tools, RTOS, virtualization, security, and safety.
  • Collaborate with AI and computer science experts to realize advanced technology concepts.
  • Prototype ideas through software development, leveraging off-the-shelf libraries, architecting re-usable modules with clear interfaces and well-documented code.
  • Perform rigorous evaluation of your designs and implementations.
  • Effectively communicate your work through presentations and reports to stakeholders.
  • Author patents and publish research in academic conferences.
  • Expand your knowledge by reading papers, maintaining research connections, attending conferences, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Frame research problems and propose innovative methods for addressing them.
  • Lead project teams to deliver prototypes and research findings.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Masters or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a focus on high performance computing and hardware acceleration.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant project experience.
  • Expertise in technical areas such as ARM-based HPC, workload profiling, ARM IP, and more.
  • Strong foundation in software development and system emulation.
  • Passion for pushing the frontiers of technology through research and development.

Preferred Experience:

  • PhD degree in a related discipline.
  • Deep knowledge in multiple technical areas listed above.
  • Track record of patents or publications in international conferences.
  • Experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Authorship of relevant open-source software.
  • Industry experience with integrated solutions within larger system architecture.
