About the Team

The Capital team is at the forefront of managing the end-to-end risk strategy for Stripe's lending product. Based in the US, our team consists of curious, driven, and analytical individuals passionate about using their skills to shape the future of Stripe. We collaborate closely with engineering, data science, product, and servicing teams to utilize existing platforms, integrate industry best practices, and develop novel solutions to manage credit risk. What You’ll Do

As a key member of the Capital team, you will shape the future of Stripe's credit policy by implementing meaningful changes to our risk and underwriting framework. You'll leverage vast data assets, partner with our cross-functional teams, and potentially utilize third-party data to develop credit risk strategies. With autonomy and responsibility, you will manage end-to-end risk initiatives in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement credit policies using proprietary and industry data to target, price, and size capital products.
  • Use your analytical and technical skills for credit risk recommendations and strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Capital Markets teams for new product developments.
  • Incorporate third-party data like bureau, bank accounts, and financial statements into credit assessments.
  • Analyze account activity and monitor portfolio trends to minimize potential credit losses.
  • Scale risk processes by designing and optimizing outsourced workflows.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in credit analysis and underwriting.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Experience in risk management, financial lending, or a core credit risk management function.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven problem-solving approach.
  • Experience with both internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and deliverables effectively.
  • Adaptability in a fast-moving, unstructured environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with quantitative tools like Python, R, or Stata.
  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Superior communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience with credit scoring models.
  • Collaboration with machine learning teams.

Hybrid Work at Stripe

Our office-assigned teams spend at least 50% of their time each month in the local office or with users. This approach balances in-person collaboration and learning with flexible working arrangements suited to individual and team needs.

Pay and Benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $152,700 - $229,100. For sales roles, this includes the On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, combining both sales commissions/sales bonuses and the annual base salary. This range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be adjusted during the interview process based on experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants not located in the US can request the local salary range during the interview process.
