About the Assets Protection Role

The Assets Protection (AP) team is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests and team, protecting our brand integrity and responding to crisis events. The AP team ensures profitable sales by mitigating risks, and preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and fraud incidents.

Role of Executive Team Leader-Assets Protection:

As an Executive Team Leader-Assets Protection, you will:

  • Manage a safe and secure culture including crisis response, safety environment, and crowd management planning.
  • Formulate and execute strategic AP strategies and goals to achieve results.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve external theft and fraud issues according to Target policies.
  • Conduct internal investigations and resolve them effectively.
  • Recruit, select, and manage the talent of hourly team members and leaders.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Ensure product availability and increase profitability by driving total store sales.
  • Implement physical security and safety processes; lead response to emergency situations.
  • Educate leaders and teams on emergency preparedness and physical security protocols.
  • Identify shortage risks and formulate strategies to reduce them, driving profitable sales.
  • Organize and lead investigative and de-escalation training sessions.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot theft and shortage trends; develop preventative measures.
  • Collaborate closely with the Store Director on operational changes and theft trends.
  • Plan resource deployment based on safety and security trends.
  • Create a culture of accountability through clear guidelines and performance management.
  • Support the onboarding and development of AP Team Leaders.
  • Model and establish a safety culture within the store.
  • Respond promptly to in-store incidents (e.g., security, weather).

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • State or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfort in managing ambiguity and leading others.
  • Capability to understand technology needs and prioritize tasks independently.
  • The ability to interpret reports and apprehend subjects as required.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
