Role Overview

As a Data Analyst at FirstRand Group, you will lead a team that understands various data sources, how data flows through the organization, and provide expertise, thought leadership, guidance, and support in translating business needs into innovative long-term solutions. Your role includes analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, engaging with stakeholders, and recommending improvements to data pipelines, data quality, metadata, master and reference data, and data access management.

Responsibilities

• Understand data sources and map them to target systems/solutions.
• Provide transformation rules to Data Engineers.
• Understand business rules and requirements to solve specific use cases.
• Ensure compliance with business objectives and Group Information Architecture.
• Prepare and present findings on data analysis in written and verbal reports.
• Engage with Data Modelers to align data models with enterprise requirements.
• Query and connect data from disparate sources to identify necessary changes.
• Conduct various analyses and deliver high-quality results.
• Research new data sources and analytical tools for process improvement.
• Ensure data quality by engaging with stakeholders to correct data as needed.
• Identify new opportunities, capabilities, and trends in data assets and products.
• Check accuracy and reasonability of data against set thresholds and requirements.
• Participate in relevant Steerco's, data working forums, and Executive forums.
• Provide business management reports to Exco and other forums.
• Analyze and recommend changes to data pipelines to avoid duplication and inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and quantify problem specifics.
• Engage with Data teams to grasp the data landscape and drive project conversations.
• Evaluate options and provide input into viable solutions based on business analysis.
• Manage timelines and expectations with business stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities/changes in Data Analytics solutions.
• Motivate for priority sessions and ensure proper handovers and artifacts.
• Provide expertise on local and global trends in data analytics.
• Coach, guide, and train junior Data Analysts.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Informatics, Data Management, or related field.
• Financial Industry experience is advantageous.

Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in SQL, Ab-nitio, Teradata, and Semarchy.
• Strong analytical thinking and data modeling skills.
• Experience with metadata, master data management, and data quality.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of retail and investment banking.
