Position Overview: Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst at Curriculum Associates, you will utilize your analytical, technical, and organizational skills to respond to data requests from both external and internal stakeholders. With guidance from senior team members, you will extract and aggregate data to create reports containing descriptive analyses of educational assessment data at various levels, including national, state, and district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize information from stakeholders to deliver data reports and analyses.
  • Develop SQL queries to efficiently extract and aggregate data from large relational databases.
  • Leverage and modify existing code to generate reports that meet educational requirements.
  • Develop code to extract, filter, manipulate, aggregate, and format data.
  • Identify the story behind student data in response to educator inquiries.
  • With support from senior team members, write clear and understandable responses to internal and educator-facing inquiries based on analytical findings.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for analytic procedures using tools such as Confluence and GitHub.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Curriculum Associates’ product offerings.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Collaborate closely with the Government Relations team to meet state specifications and formatting requirements for state contracts.

Required Job Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, preferably with experience in communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in SQL coding to extract and aggregate data from large relational databases.
  • Ability to write code in one or more programming languages (SAS preferred) for data manipulation and formatting.
  • Ability to convey complex technical information in an accessible manner, primarily through writing.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills focused on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to juggle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Commitment to enhancing the learning outcomes for all students through research-based practices, especially for historically marginalized groups, special education students, English learners, and striving students not yet on grade level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of applied experience in data analytics and querying large databases, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proven experience coding in SQL and writing queries to join multiple tables within a large relational database.
  • Ability to provide writing samples upon request.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field and experience or familiarity with the field of education.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (SAS preferred).
  • Experience in the education sector, particularly with the K-12 curriculum and assessment landscape.
  • Skills in data visualization, report organization, and understanding of educator and education market needs.
  • Knowledge of educational measurement principles, including psychometric concepts such as measurement error, validity, and reliability estimation.

Travel and Physical Demands

  • Travel: Less than 20%
  • Physical Demands: Remote – Typical Office Environment

Benefits and Pay Range

Pay Range: $60,750 - $99,750. Actual base pay will vary based on several factors, including experience and relevant skill sets. It is unusual for someone to be hired at the top of the range, and compensation decisions are case-specific.
