Job Opportunity: Data Analyst / Financial Engineer – Treasury Dept. (Associate) at Mizuho

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with and support the Treasury desk, Financial Technology, model validation, and project management teams in:

  • Model creation, methodology and testing documentation, validation and remediation, signoff, maintenance, and production deployment

Utilize quantitative and technological techniques to address complex business challenges.

Develop analysis tools, data visualization tools, and informational reports to meet business requirements.

Enhance and maintain the existing Treasury system for P&L analysis and monitoring, scenario analysis, and process automation.

Plan and develop new tools and systems valuable to the business, extending beyond Treasury to encompass corporate-wide applications in the future.

Conduct research on cutting-edge technologies in areas like AI, BI, ML, NLP, alternative data, and FinTech, and explore high-performance computing (e.g., GPU, quantum computing) to uncover potential business applications.

Conduct quantitative research and predictive modeling for market-related businesses by sourcing, integrating, and analyzing traditional and alternative datasets to discover new insights and strategies.

Required Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • 2-5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Typescript/Javascript, and Linux development.
  • 2-5+ years of experience using a wide range of statistical and machine-learning techniques (e.g., time series analysis, NLP, deep learning).
  • Experience developing or working with REST APIs.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of financial mathematics (e.g., stochastic calculus, interest rate models) and familiarity with capital market and derivative products (e.g., interest rate swaps, cross currency swaps, options).

The expected base salary ranges from $79,000 to $151,500. Salary offers depend on various factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Besides salary, our generous employee benefits package includes eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
