Role Summary
As a Market Operations Analyst, you'll be integral to the team responsible for fulfilling OhmConnect’s multi-million dollar portfolio of energy market contracts daily by operating our virtual power plants (VPPs) composed of a network of residential energy users in California and New York.
As a member of OhmConnect’s Market Development and Operations (MD&O) team, you will conduct key analytical tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule that enables OhmConnect to visualize and optimize our resources, improve process efficiencies across our VPPs, and provide insights to drive internal performance strategy. You will aid in creating databases to analysis and extract data for internal strategy and regulatory compliance data requests. Your daily work will primarily focus on the electricity markets in California and New York, both being pioneers in zero-carbon distributed energy resources (DERs).
What You Will Do
1. Carry out analytical tasks daily, weekly, and monthly to support VPP operations across multiple electric markets.
2. Update and maintain vital databases and dashboards for the MD&O teams, including performance analysis, user growth, and financial performance.
3. Comprehend MD&O team operations and needs across multiple markets; perform analysis to provide insights and recommendations to inform and improve VPP performance.
4. Build a framework for and execute data requests to respond to inquiries by counterparties and regulatory agencies, and to inform MD&O strategy and operations.
5. Collaborate externally with contract counterparties, and regulatory agencies to meet operational, compliance and regulatory requirements..
6. Coordinate with internal teams including Data, Engineering, Finance, Policy, Marketing and Product to deliver a premier customer experience while meeting operational and strategic milestones.
Requirements
1. Proficiency with SQL.
2. Familiarity with using Python notebooks for data exploration, analysis and the streamlining of operational processes.
3. Strong quantitative analytical skills and the ability to scope, breakdown, and solve complex problems.
4. Exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
5. Comfort and capability to make decisions in uncertain conditions.
6. Excellent individual and team communication skills.
7. Ability to thrive in a fully-remote work environment.
8. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study, or equivalent work experience.
9. 3+ years of work experience in electric market operations (strongly preferred).
