The opportunity

This is a fantastic career development opportunity for a data analyst or junior statistician who wants to be part of a team making a social difference in New Zealand. Use your SAS expertise to manage datasets. You will assist in the assembly, management, statistical analysis, and reporting of data for research and commercial studies (randomised trials, cohort studies, individual participant data, meta-analysis, systematic reviews) within the organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to study design, data analysis, and reporting of studies led by research groups within the University of Auckland.
  • Collaborate with the senior statisticians and/or consulting statisticians to compile, extract, and clean project databases in preparation for statistical analysis.
  • Support in checking, quality control, and reporting of data for research trials, studies and monitoring.
  • Perform statistical analyses of data according to study protocols in collaboration with the senior statisticians and/or consulting statisticians, and compile the results into suitable and accurate reports for clients.
  • Effectively document processes in written format, maintaining a level that is accessible for all users. Record statistical analyses carried out thoroughly for reproduction and publishing.
  • Regularly communicate with the senior statisticians and/or consulting statisticians, clients and other group members to ensure that data are managed and analysed according to project requirements.

Your skills and experience:

It is necessary for you to hold:

  • At least an undergraduate degree in Statistics, Data Science or a related discipline, and experience as a data analyst or statistician.
  • Proficiency in statistical software, such as R, SAS, SPSS.
  • Possess a commitment to excellent customer service by understanding the varying degrees of statistical literacy among clients and consistently addressing client needs.
  • Demonstrated skill in accuracy and attention to detail.
