About the Role

The Risk Consultant/Data Analyst role involves analyzing both internal and external data sources to estimate risks and shape decisions critical to our clients, including federal government projects focused on mitigating natural and man-made hazards. This position demands strong statistical analysis skills and the ability to engage in critical thinking to manage complex data effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate complex client requirements into actionable steps.
  • Identify and utilize data sources to fortify decision-making processes.
  • Develop and validate risk metrics using basic statistical tests.
  • Employ mathematical models for risk assessment.
  • Streamline data collection and cleaning processes.
  • Debug and resolve errors.
  • Document and report on findings and project progress.
  • Communicate results effectively to stakeholders and small groups.
  • Bring positive energy and collaborative spirit to our team.

What We Require

Education & Experience:

  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in data analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Stata.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced skills in Excel, including VBA and Power Query.
  • Experience with geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Capability to develop machine learning models.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage complexities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • A strong understanding or capability to quickly learn ABS's health and safety protocols.
