We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to spearhead the evolution and delivery of our Data Engineering and AI/ML technology. As a key member of our CSS Data Engineering team, you will manage Data Engineers and ML Engineers, collaborate with data scientists, analysts, campaign managers, and other skilled professionals to develop a robust CSS Customer Data platform. This platform will provide accurate analytics for business decisions and ensure personalized, relevant, and timely customer communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and anticipate business needs, organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks to ensure timely completion of multiple initiatives.
  • Operate at the intersection of data engineering and AIML engineering (e.g., MLOps), guiding teams to deliver innovative and high-quality subscription services that drive HP’s growth.
  • Advocate for engineering best practices (e.g., automated deployment, GitHub branching, consistent code reviews, unit testing) and the adoption of new technologies (e.g., Databricks MLFlow, Azure OpenAI) to accelerate progress.
  • Manage engineers, continually elevating their skills and fostering career growth at HP.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to understand/influence the roadmap, engage employees, remove obstacles, align efforts across HP’s cross-functional organizations, and drive forward team success.
  • Promote mature code management workflows, infrastructure as code, application lifecycle management, and operational best practices.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to navigate complex technical situations and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences; ability to manage hybrid teams across multiple locations.
  • Drive change management and efficiently handle escalations; influence and build consensus effectively.
  • Comprehend global privacy laws, company policies, and procedures, identifying compliance and regulatory concerns.
  • Assign responsibilities, provide direction and coaching, and eliminate barriers to enable teams to achieve their objectives and goals.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent; or 10 years and a master’s degree.
  • At least 3+ years in a management role utilizing Agile frameworks, processes, and team structures, using tools such as Jira, VersionOne, etc.

Skill Requirements

  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, etc.
  • Familiarity with Big Data distributed and lakehouse architecture-based systems like Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, AWS EMR, etc.
  • Experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Knowledge of AI, ML, or analytics technologies such as Scikit-learn, Dask, TensorFlow, or similar platforms and Gen AI-based frameworks.
  • Proven ability to articulate or experience with MLOps and the lifecycle of model development from experimentation to production and measurement.
  • Experience leading ML projects from data preprocessing, feature engineering, training, model deployment, to model hosting.

Good to Have

  • Experience with multiple Big Data file formats (Parquet, Delta Lake).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD processes such as Jenkins, Codeway, and source control tools like GitHub.
  • Experience with cloud deployments focusing on CI/CD-based automation, scale, performance, and reliability.
