Position Summary:

Oasys is currently seeking a Data Architect who will be responsible for supervising and planning the architectural design and development of databases. The role involves providing technical guidance and strategic direction to senior-level database administrators and application developers to create and implement new databases, as well as maintain existing databases that support evolving applications. The Data Architect will also guide data stewards in developing and implementing data models that support organizational business processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and architect migration of data environments with performance and reliability.
  • Evaluate and understand the ETL jobs, workflows, BI tools, and reports.
  • Address technical inquiries regarding customization, integration, enterprise architecture, and general features/functionality of data products.
  • Design database/data warehouse solutions in the cloud (Preferably AWS. Alternatively Azure, GCP).
  • Support an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Manipulate, process, and extract values from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Manipulate structured and unstructured data for analysis.
  • Construct complex queries to analyze results using databases or in a data processing development environment.
  • Architect data systems (transactional and warehouses)
  • Compile results and/or collect information for reporting from multiple datasets.
  • Model OLAP databases and visualize data using Tableau (or other technologies)
  • Support project teams of developers and data scientists who build web-based interfaces, dashboards, reports, and analytics/machine learning models.
  • Capability to generate and provide reports to leadership on all aspects of the Program to ensure objectives are met.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business intelligence, economics, statistics, or mathematics
  • Five (5) years of industry experience coding commercial software and a passion for solving complex problems.
  • Five (5) years of direct experience in Data Engineering with experience in tools such as:
    • Big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Expertise in Data Migration from Oracle to AWS PostgreSQL experience is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the design and implementation of large-scale data platforms/solutions using major Cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Five (5) years of experience in data engineering with a focus on predictive data analytics, reporting, and visualization
  • Five (5) years of experience in the design and build of data extraction, transformation, and loading processes using data pipelines.
  • Five (5) years of experience with ETL skills including experience with pipeline orchestration tools, logging, monitoring & alerting, intensive troubleshooting, and automated testing & deployments.
  • Five (5) years of experience in SQL, data transformations, migration, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting across multiple Database Platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Amazon RDS for Oracle, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and building solutions using various Cloud services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift/Spectrum, Lambda, etc.
  • Experience in translating business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, data warehouses.
  • Experience in defining and implementing data access patterns for analytical and operational workloads, across on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
  • Experience in defining and executing enterprise-level strategy on building data storage infrastructure, data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, data APIs, and self-service tools for a variety of data types (structured and unstructured), and diverse workloads/dataflows (transactional, analytics, Machine Learning pipelines)
  • Experience working in all phases of full life cycle data analytics development: Requirements, Architecture, Design, Testing, and deployment.
  • Experience in defining and implementing legacy modernization and migration roadmaps for large-scale applications, databases (Oracle to PostgreSQL), and database optimization.
  • Experience building applications using service-oriented, microservice, and/or API-based architectures at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience with event-driven applications using queues, service buses, and other related patterns.
  • Experience with federal acquisition systems and processes.
  • Experience in working closely with technical leads, engineering teams, and architecture stakeholders for technical issues and architecture framework capabilities for use by other development teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical executives on strategy, project portfolio management, best practice.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be comfortable and capable of interacting with Government, contractor, and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Prior management consulting experience.
  • Experience with a federal agency as a contractor or federal employee
  • Cloud Data Architect Professional certification
