Job Description

As a Data Engineer at Nielsen, you will:

  • Develop and improve tools supporting platform automation and process integration.
  • Guide teams on the best technical practices, focusing on data flow, reuse, and system design.
  • Mentor and conduct design reviews to enhance team skills and project outcomes.
  • Create a clear roadmap for solutions that achieve automation, interoperability, reuse, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automated tools for system administration, including performance monitoring and security management.
  • Manage migrations, configurations, and upgrades within our systems.
  • Investigate and resolve platform issues, escalating complex matters to relevant departments.
  • Document and standardize development and administration practices for our GDS analytics platform.

This position offers the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. or at any Nielsen U.S. office.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Applied Statistics, or a similar quantitative field. Foreign equivalent degrees accepted.
  • At least two years of experience in data engineering with a Master's degree or five years with a Bachelor's.
  • Proficiency in AWS technologies (including EMR, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Autoscaling).
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases, server platform troubleshooting, Python, CI/CD tools (e.g., Git), Linux, and Apache Spark.

Salary & Employment Details

Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Salary Range: $168,854 to $185,000 per year
