Key Responsibilities:
As a Data Engineer, you will:
- Design and manage the infrastructure necessary for data ingestion, processing, and storage across various platforms and systems.
- Create and oversee data pipelines from data sources to destination systems.
- Extract, integrate, and organize data from a diverse array of sources such as databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems.
- Clean, transform, and prepare data to ensure it is analysis-ready for data consumers like Data Scientists, BI Analysts, and Data Analysts.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize data models and algorithms, focus on data quality, security, and governance.
Required Technical Skills:
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in data management disciplines such as data integration, modeling, optimization, and data quality.
- Proficiency in modern data architecture and technologies including cloud services (AWS, Azure), and data warehousing tools (Snowflake, Databricks).
- Extensive experience with RDMS (e.g., IBM DB2, MySQL, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (e.g., Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra), and ETL tools (e.g., IBM Infosphere, AWS Glue).
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, R, Java, and familiarity with Unix/Linux Shell and PowerShell.
Functional Skills:
You should be able to:
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Understand the implications of data in business contexts and the risks associated with poor data management.
- Effectively communicate across diverse business lines and translate between executive, business, IT, and quantitative stakeholder languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
Nice to have:
- Experience with Big Data tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
- A master’s degree in a STEM field such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
