Your Role in Our Team

As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Design, implement, and optimize data management infrastructure including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Ensure the scalability, flexibility, and maintainability of data solutions.
• Integrate data from various sources into the target system.
• Build and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Design and implement data models to enable efficient data usage.
• Support data governance initiatives.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines.
• Represent the team and key initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor team members.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to create actionable insights.
• Work with Oerlikon business departments to advise and support the design of data applications.

Your Profile

We are looking for candidates with:

• Completed studies (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or similar fields.
• 5-7 years of relevant working experience.
• Excellent English language skills; German skills are beneficial.
• Experience with established data manipulation languages (SQL and Python).
• General software development skills (source code management, debugging, testing, deployment, etc.).
• Strong experience in data modeling, data management, and data querying (DWH, SQL/noSQL).
• Experience setting up ETL pipelines (Python, Spark) in a cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS).
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of data infrastructure and data governance.
• Experience in project management and the ability to communicate with various internal and external partners is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Self-motivation, organization, ambition, and achievement-driven attitude.
