Amazon's Operations Finance Technology team is at the forefront of creating innovative technical solutions for analyzing multi-billion dollar worldwide operational costs including Inbound costs (Receiving/PO), variable costs, fixed costs, outbound (Customer Shipments/Transportation), and Customer Service. We are currently looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Your main responsibilities will include designing and implementing analytical tools using both third-party and in-house reporting tools, modeling metadata, building reports, and crafting dashboards. You’ll leverage advanced technologies like Redshift, Hadoop, Hive, and Pig, and work on performance optimization for queries running over billions of rows of data.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain data warehouse/data lake infrastructure utilizing AWS's big data stack, Python, Redshift, Quicksight, Glue/Lake Formation, EMR/Spark/Scala, Athena, and more.
  • Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various commercial, sales, and operational systems, ensuring a unified data model for analytics and reporting.
  • Create and deploy dashboards using business intelligence and visualization software (e.g., Quicksight), which are utilized by senior leadership.
  • Empower both technical and non-technical internal customers to drive their own analytics and reporting through self-serve platforms, plus support ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Deepen your knowledge of vast data sources to effectively select pertinent data for solving specific business problems.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Finance, Service Engineering Teams, and Sales Teams daily to support new analytics requirements.
  • Manage multiple requests concurrently and prioritize strategically.
  • Build partnerships across teams and roles to achieve results and mentor other engineers to promote a positive team culture and growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Proficient in data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline construction.
  • Skilled in SQL and at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
  • Experience managing large data warehouses and using different ETL tools such as Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.
