Our Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) team is equipped with billions of data points, forming the groundwork for providing industry-leading services for our customers. The team comprises data engineers, architects, insights analysts, data scientists, visualization experts, and more, with our Data and Analytics business offering expansive learning and growth opportunities to each team member.

Who are we looking for?

We are on the lookout for a seasoned Data Engineer with a penchant for data and databases, a knack for problem analysis and solving, and skill in manipulating Big Data technologies in a collaborative environment.

What would be your Roles and Responsibilities?

As a Data Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Reporting to a Data Engineering Manager (Chapter Lead)
  • Employing Big Data technologies to address our customers' data-centric issues
  • Teaming up with Solution Designers and Business Analysts for data ingestion, enrichment, and egression
  • Operating across the Group Data Warehouse, Big Data Platform, Ab Initio, and Data Stage
  • Designing and constructing group data products by integrating diverse data from hundreds of internal and external sources
  • Adopting tools, programming languages, and templates to enhance our data quality and efficiency
  • Building and optimizing Big Data pipelines, architecture, and datasets
  • Processing data from large disconnected / unstructured datasets
  • Forging and maintaining excellent relationships with CDAO peers and stakeholders, while actively contributing to team culture and business outcomes.

What skills will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Required:
  • Engineering / Computer Science degree or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Software Engineering or development using Scala or Java in Hadoop, Hive, and Spark technologies
  • A minimum of 3+ years of practical experience on Teradata / Oracle / SQL Server / MySQL (Required for Teradata Engineers and Desirable for Big Data Engineers)
  • A decent understanding of source control tools like GitHub/ BitBucket etc
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in Shell Scripting
  • Familiarity with AGILE processes and methodologies
  • The inherent capability to communicate, educate, and influence stakeholders/peers, address challenging problems, and work cohesively with cross-functional engineering and solution design teams
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • Desirable:
  • Previous experience in the Banking/Financial Services domain
  • Practical experience with Ab Initio is highly sought
  • Python experience would be an asset
  • Familiarity with JIRA/ Confluence is beneficial
  • Experience with Tableau, d3, and Shiny for data presentation is a value addition.
