Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate extensively with team leaders and back-end developers to design and develop robust, functional data pipelines for both internal use and customer integration.
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, while also developing tools to automate daily tasks.
  • Develop top-quality, efficient code with detailed documentation.
  • Manage and enhance scalable systems on cloud platforms, focusing on optimization and functionality.
  • Enhance the performance and scalability of internal and external applications.
  • Create automated testing solutions to validate the needs of the business.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with multiple stakeholders across the company, including project managers and QA teams, to align on and influence our long-term technology roadmap.
  • Analyze and recommend system solutions, weighing the benefits of custom development against commercial alternatives.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • At least 2 years of experience in software or data engineering.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or an engineering field.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Java, Scala, Big Data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark), Spark SQL, Presto / Hive, and Cloud services (AWS preferred).
  • Deep understanding of database management systems (RDBMS like Postgres/Oracle), NoSQL databases, Linux environment, and Shell scripting.
  • Experience in orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, and big data processing using Apache Spark Scala.
  • Familiarity with AWS S3, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and AWS compute services (EC2, EMR, Lambda).
  • Proficiency in version control systems (GitLab/Bitbucket).
  • AWS Certification will be considered an added advantage.
  • Agile scrum experience in application development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a track record of developing innovative solutions efficiently.
