About Chili Piper

Chili Piper is a B2B SaaS startup. Our product aids clients in immediately converting inbound leads into arranged meetings, allowing revenue teams to connect with buyers faster.

Think of us as Calendly, but much better and stronger. We have a client base comprising RingCentral, Airbnb, Square, Intuit, Spotify, Twilio, and many other impressive names.

We’re encountering swift growth, and we mean this in the most factual sense. We have recently received a new round of funds, and we intend to conquer the world (in the most viable and respectful manner, of course).

Position Overview:

We are in search of a skilled and driven Data Engineer to join our team and play a major role in taking Chili Piper to the next level through data-informed decision-making. As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our data infrastructure to cater to the company’s analytics and reporting needs.

You’ll mostly work with our Analytics Engineer and SRE team to define solutions as well as with various business stakeholders throughout the company to comprehend their needs and create systems that enable operational efficiencies or analytic insights.

This role provides a unique chance to reassess our current data architecture and facilitate our transition to a higher level of data maturity. You will also be in charge of assessing and implementing the latest data engineering tools and technologies to best meet our team's evolving needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain and enhance existing data pipelines and construct monitoring systems around them.

  • Collaborate with the team to define our data architecture and infrastructure.

  • Develop an understanding of our data model and optimize our data models and pipelines for scale.

  • Design & build data models using SQL & dbt.

  • Ensure system security and compliance with data privacy.

  • Enhance the performance, observability, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.

  • Configure warehouse ingestion tools (e.g., Snowpipe) and provision, maintain and optimize our data warehouse

  • Develop and maintain a scalable, robust and efficient data platform serving analytic and operational needs across the organization.

  • Work independently and share your knowledge across the business and mentor colleagues in areas of deep technical expertise.

  • Work with product owners and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical prerequisites, providing timely updates on progress and identifying relevant risks or opportunities.

Who You Are:

  • 4+ years of software development experience, preferably as a data or backend engineer, maintaining and working with data pipelines & ETL processes on big data environments.

  • Deep knowledge with data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks.

  • Can reduce end-to-end pipeline latency through data orchestration in addition to incrementalization or streaming. You have a strong understanding of common data integration patterns (CDC, ELT, etc.)

  • Proficient in a programming language such as Python, Go, or Scala.

  • Expert SQL skills and knowledge; capable of writing complex queries, comfortable with window functions and experienced in database design/schema.

  • Practical experience in using event-driven architecture with Kafka.

  • Experience with a job orchestrator (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)

  • Demonstrable understanding of how to expose data from systems (e.g., through APIs), link data from multiple systems and deliver streaming services.

  • Initiatives around performance optimization and cost reduction.

  • Sound understanding of security best practices, accessibility, compliance, and GDPR regulations.

  • Experience in modern software development tools and practices (Agile methodologies, Git, CI/CD & DevOps tools, infrastructure as code, metrics/monitoring, etc.)

  • Thrive in ambiguous situations, possessing a proactive problem-solving attitude

  • Autonomous in approach and experience mentoring and advising other team members.

  • Communicate effectively with Product Managers, Engineering and Commercial teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable solutions.

Desired experience:

  • Experience with batch / streaming services.

  • Strong perspective on analytics engineering development cycle (data modeling, version control, documentation + testing, best practices for codebase development)

  • Knowledge in modern and classic Data Modeling - Kimball, Data Vault, OBT etc.

  • Experience with the modern data stack (Fivetran / Snowflake / dbt / Looker / Hightouch or equivalents)

  • Experience with product / marketing analytics would be an asset.
