Data Engineer Your role will involve maintaining and extending our existing data pipelines, ensuring they are always available and collaborating closely with stakeholders to define and implement requirements in a scalable and fault-tolerant way. You will be in charge of periodically reviewing and improving the existing architecture towards a wider strategy for the future of our infrastructure according to the guidelines and strategy provided by the Business Analytics team, and in line with industry best practices. What will your typical day look like? Once in place, you will review the data infrastructure and internal use cases to identify more areas of improvement and devise a strategy for our infrastructure based on the Business Analytics team’s strategy. You will continue to help drive and develop internal data strategy and tool selection. You will create solutions to intake critical data sources from both internal and external sources to help improve operational efficiency and satisfy the needs of internal stakeholders. You will attend to any alerts arising from the infrastructure and rectify them promptly according to defined business SLAs. You are someone who: - Is inquisitive, methodical, and familiar with multiple platforms and cloud technologies. - Forms effective working relationships with team members from different disciplines. - Develops business cases for new technological solutions. Can confidently present and defend recommended solutions, approaches, and timelines to IT and user leadership and manage expectations accordingly. - Prepares specifications, designs, data models, and diagrams for the development of our data strategy. - Has working knowledge and proven experience with: AWS (or other major cloud provider), Airflow, Data modeling and design, SQL, data transformations, migration, statistical analysis, and troubleshooting across multiple Database Platforms, ETL/ELT skills, Data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau), Python and relevant libraries, Big data storage solutions (ideally Redshift), Compliance and security fundamentals, Database and ETL process performance tuning, and Building and monitoring data integration pipelines. You also: - Advocate for your own ideas and comfortably contribute to the team as a leader. - Can effectively sort through volumes of information to extract what’s important and prioritize. - Can collate information from disparate sources to form an accurate picture of events. - Have meticulous attention to detail. - Have a strong desire to learn and grow with a team. - Enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge with the broader technical staff. - Want to work on groundbreaking big data and can design solutions to operate on a massive scale. - Have excellent verbal and written communications skills. - Have cumulative experience across applications like CRM, ERP, Business Intelligence, Data Governance. - Can serve as an internal resource and subject matter expert to colleagues and assist others in solving complex problems and issues related to data used for reporting and analytics. - Want to develop skills in adjacent areas of expertise.
