About the Role

We are looking for a proficient Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at Middle Seat Digital. As a vital part of our team, you'll spearhead the management and development of our data infrastructure, ensuring our teams and clients are well-equipped with the necessary insights and tools to effectively raise funds and reach voters.

Your expertise will bring to life our tech stack which comprises AWS (S3), SQL, Redshift, Python, GitHub, and Google Looker Studio, alongside specialized platforms like ActBlue, ActionKit, Action Network, Civis, NGPVAN, Everyaction, and more within the Democratic Party technology framework.

This full-time, permanent role offers flexibility with options to work either from our base in DC or remotely across the US. As proud members of the Campaign Workers Guild, this position is encompassed within a collective bargaining agreement, reflecting our commitment to our unionized team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and optimization of data systems, ensuring performance and security for large datasets.
  • Engage in extensive data analysis using Python, Redshift, and SQL to derive crucial data insights.
  • Create robust database systems that enhance data accessibility and meet stringent business requirements.
  • Develop strategic data handling mechanisms to ensure seamless integration across multiple data sources and analytical tools.
  • Maintain effective data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) infrastructures using advanced AWS and SQL technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and elevate data quality across the organization.
  • Offer leadership and technical support on Democratic political CRMs and data processes.

What We Require

  • Solid proficiency in SQL, Redshift, and Python with a minimum of 2 years professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience with dbt for data build tooling is a plus.
  • Prior experience within a political, nonprofit, or consultancy environment is highly advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

Compensation for this role ranges from $85,000 to $100,000 based on experience, accompanied by a robust benefits package which includes:
